Genie GS-1930 Scissor Lift Won’t Charge

If your Genie GS-1930 scissor lift will not charge or loses power quickly after charging, the issue is typically related to the onboard charger, battery system, fuse protection, or wiring connections.

Charging problems are one of the most common electrical issues on GS-1930 machines and are often resolved by inspecting a few key components.

Step 1: Verify Power Supply to the Charger

Before replacing parts, confirm:

  • Outlet has power

  • Extension cord is not damaged

  • Breaker is not tripped

  • Charger indicator lights respond

If the charger shows no signs of life, inspect input power and breaker protection first.

Step 2: Inspect the Onboard Battery Charger

A failed onboard charger can prevent batteries from charging or cause incomplete charging cycles.

Symptoms include:

  • No charging indicator lights

  • Charger fan not running

  • Machine dies quickly after charge attempt

  • Inconsistent charge cycles

Common related component:
24V Onboard Charger (model dependent, please call use for the correct charger)

Step 3: Check the 275A Main Fuse

A blown or weakened main fuse can interrupt charging circuits.

Common related part:
40833GT – 275A Main Fuse

Inspect for:

  • Heat damage

  • Loose fuse block connections

  • Corrosion

Step 4: Inspect Battery Cables & Connections

Corroded or loose battery cables can:

  • Prevent full charging

  • Cause voltage drop

  • Lead to intermittent power issues

Inspect:

  • Main battery cable assembly

  • Ground connections

  • Signs of overheating

Step 5: Test Battery Condition

Even if the charger is functioning, weak batteries may not hold a charge.

Look for:

  • Rapid voltage drop under load

  • Swollen battery cases

  • Uneven battery voltage readings

Battery packs typically require replacement after repeated deep discharge cycles.

Step 6: Inspect Charger Control Harness

Damaged or corroded wiring between the charger and battery system can prevent proper charging.

Check:

  • Harness integrity

  • Pin corrosion

  • Loose connections
