Genie GS-1930 Scissor Lift Won’t Lift

If your Genie GS-1930 scissor lift will drive but the platform will not raise — or lowers unexpectedly — the issue is typically related to the lift hydraulic system, solenoid control, overload protection, or safety interlocks.

Lift failures are one of the most common GS-1930 service issues and are often resolved by inspecting a few key components.

Step 1: Confirm Battery Voltage

Even if the machine drives, low battery voltage can prevent the lift function from operating properly.

Check:

  • Fully charged batteries

  • Voltage under load

  • Corroded battery cables

  • Main breaker condition

If voltage drops significantly when attempting to lift, inspect the battery pack and cable assembly.

Step 2: Inspect the Solenoid Coils

The GS-1930 lift system relies on hydraulic solenoid coils mounted to the function manifold.

A failed coil may cause:

  • No lift response

  • Intermittent lift

  • Clicking sound without movement

Common related parts include lift solenoid coils and valve components.

Step 3: Check the Function Manifold

The hydraulic function manifold controls lift flow and pressure.

Possible issues include:

  • Sticking valve

  • Internal contamination

  • Failed relief valve

  • Damaged seals

If the machine attempts to lift but stalls or moves slowly, inspect the manifold and hydraulic condition.

Step 4: Inspect the Pressure Transducer (Overload System)

The GS-1930 overload protection system uses a pressure transducer to monitor lift pressure.

If the transducer fails, the machine may:

  • Refuse to lift

  • Display overload condition

  • Beep continuously

  • Lift briefly then stop

Common related part:
1311101GT – Pressure Transducer (0–5K PSI)

Step 5: Verify Limit Switch & Pothole System Operation

Safety interlocks can disable lift if the machine detects an unsafe condition.

Inspect:

  • Limit switches

  • Roller arm assemblies

  • Pothole actuator components

  • Wiring harness connections

Faulty safety switches are a common cause of lift disablement.

Step 6: Check Hydraulic Filter & Oil Condition

Restricted hydraulic flow can prevent proper lift operation.

Inspect:

  • Hydraulic filter element

  • Oil level

  • Oil contamination

  • Signs of overheating

Common related part:
44788GT – Hydraulic Filter Element (10 Micron)

Common Parts Related to Lift Failure

Lift issues are frequently resolved by replacing one of the following:

  • Solenoid Coils

  • Function Manifold Components

  • 1311101GT – Pressure Transducer

  • Hydraulic Brake Assembly

  • Limit Switch Assembly

  • 44788GT – Hydraulic Filter Element

  • Coil Cord Controller Cable

  • Battery Cable Assembly
